The Bulldog girls fell just short of a win against Lourdes Central Catholic on Tuesday, January 10 in Auburn, but responded with a rout over Fairbury three days later. Junior post Zoe Baltensperger was one board away from reaching double figures in rebounding in both games, but finished with 19 between the two games and led the Bulldogs in scoring against Fairbury with a game-high 13. The Bulldogs are 10-5 on the year after the past week.

Jerzie Maher of Auburn has been named to the Athletic Director’s Semester High Honor Roll at Doane University, Crete.

Facing a pair of opponents that elect to play zone defenses in Lourdes Central Catholic and Fairbury, the Auburn boys basketball team were going to need to knock down some outside shots to separate from their opponents. Luckily for Auburn, guards like Maverick Binder, Payton Boden, and Nixon Ligouri answered the call and fired away from beyond the arch, proving that allowing the Bulldogs to take shots from behind the arch would come with consequences for their opponents. With victories over Lourdes CC on Tuesday, January 10 and Fairbury on Friday, January 13, the Bulldogs improved to 9-4 on the year, including four straight wins.
