Robert Michael Cole, eldest of eight children of Robert Allen and Marjorie Elizabeth (Flack) Cole, was born June 16, 1949, in Omaha, Nebraska. Mike, as he was known throughout his life, was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Auburn, Nebraska. He attended Auburn Public Schools, graduating in 1967. Mike went on to earn his degree in History at Peru State College in Peru, Nebraska.
Jack Gene Whisler, one of eleven children of John Dempsey, Sr. and Arlene Agnes (Lindsay) Whisler, was born January 25, 1962, at Auburn, Nebraska. Jack Gene grew up and attended school in Peru through elementary, he then attended school at Auburn, graduating from Auburn High School with the class of 1980. Jack Gene was baptized and confirmed at the Methodist Church in Peru.
Robert Paul Chitwood was born June 9, 1936, in Viroqua, Wisconsin. One of two sons of Olen Robert and Irene Lucille (Buxton) Chitwood, he was baptized in the Viroqua Church of Christ. Bob grew up in Viroqua where he attended school and graduated from high school.
Vernon Keith McMann, one of two sons of Donald “Bud” and Betty June (Shiveley) McMann, was born June 5, 1956, in Onawa, Iowa. The family moved to southeast Nebraska when Vern was just a boy, he attended school at both Auburn and Brownville and graduated from Auburn High School, where he played football and wrestled. Vern then attended school at Milford and obtained his Diesel Mechanic’s degree.
John Allen Rist, 73, of Humboldt, Nebraska was born on January 27, 1948 in Humboldt to Louis G. and Marjorie (Baker) Rist. He was raised on a farm southwest of Humboldt and attended school in Humboldt. John was proud of his heritage. He was the fifth generation of a Swiss family that came to Humboldt in 1856. Now there are seven generations who have lived in Nebraska and he was named after his great-grandfather, John Rist.
