Bulldogs Upset #1 Wahoo, #5 Omaha Concordia to Reach Fifth Straight State Title Game, Fall to Bluejays for Second Straight Year

After defeating Lincoln Lutheran 72-29 in the district final, the Bulldogs were playing their best basketball of the year, but Auburn’s state quarterfinal matchup would be the farthest thing from a cake walk. The top seeded Wahoo Warriors entered the tournament with a 24-1 record, including a 22-point subdistrict victory over the tournament’s #2 seed Ashland-Greenwood just a couple of weeks prior. With six of Wahoo’s seven players were seniors, whose average height was 6 feet and five inches, the Warriors were the heavy favorite to win the class C1 title.
