The Johnson-Brock Lady Eagles will be playing in their fourth girls’ state basketball tournament. It is their first state appearance since 1994, when the Lady Eagles were Class C-2 runner-up.
For the first time since 1994, the Lady Eagles are state bound. Johnson-Brock defeated Bruning-Davenport/Shickley 48-38 in the district final at in Johnson on Friday, February 24 behind a 22-3 run, mostly in the second quarter.
Auburn’s Owen Rowell represented the Bulldog wrestling team at the 2023 NSAA State Wrestling Championships at CHI Health Center in Omaha. The 226 pound sophomore went 2-1, defeating Sidney’s Landon Hanes (40-9) with the pin in the first round on Thursday, February 16.
From Carson Leslie’s game-opening steal and dunk, the Bulldogs dominated the Thunderbirds on both ends of the court. The senior post scored a game-high 13 points.
