Bulldog Wrestling Coach Mark Oliver offered comments as the 2021-2022 season concluded for Auburn High School students with senior Brad Hall’s participation in the Class B State Wrestling Championships at CHI Health Center Arena in Omaha.
The Lady Eagles are a district final victory away from qualifying for the 2022 NSAA state basketball tournament for the first time since 1994. After defeating Pawnee City (2-18) on Tuesday, February 15 and Southern (18-7) on Thursday, February 17 to claim the D1-1 subdistrict championship and a district final against Niobrara/Verdigre on Friday, February 25 at Cross County High School in Stromsburg.
Thursday, Feb. 24, championships of Subdistricts C1-1 and D-1 are at Auburn and Johnson-Brock high schools. Tip-offs are at 6:30 p.m. at Auburn and 7 p.m. at Johnson-Brock.

Auburn controlled the game early against the Thunderbirds by taking a 19-4 lead in the first quarter. Part of Auburn’s success came on second chances, as the Bulldogs recorded 16 offensive rebounds compared to just four for the Thunderbirds.
