Undefeated Eagle Football Season Cut Short by Physical Sandhills/Thedford Team

The Eagle football team produced blowout victories in each of their ten games leading to the 2023 class D2 8-man football quarterfinals, in which Johnson-Brock earned the #1 seed. With eight teams remaining in class D2, the Eagles finally found an opponent that could hang with them, but the challenge that #8 Sandhills/Thedford gave the top seeded Eagles proved to be too much and resulted in a 60-28 loss for Johnson-Brock. The Knights entered the quarterfinal game against Johnson-Brock with a 9-1 record, their only loss coming to #4 South Loup in mid-September. In the previous round, the Knights defeated Lourdes Central Catholic 52-12. LCC is the only common opponent the two teams have, as the Eagles shut out Lourdes 47-0 in Johnson on September 22.
