The Eagle football team produced blowout victories in each of their ten games leading to the 2023 class D2 8-man football quarterfinals, in which Johnson-Brock earned the #1 seed. With eight teams remaining in class D2, the Eagles finally found an opponent that could hang with them, but the challenge that #8 Sandhills/Thedford gave the top seeded Eagles proved to be too much and resulted in a 60-28 loss for Johnson-Brock. The Knights entered the quarterfinal game against Johnson-Brock with a 9-1 record, their only loss coming to #4 South Loup in mid-September. In the previous round, the Knights defeated Lourdes Central Catholic 52-12. LCC is the only common opponent the two teams have, as the Eagles shut out Lourdes 47-0 in Johnson on September 22.
Auburn’s volleyball season came to a close Monday night, with the Bulldogs being eliminated in the first round of the subdistrict tournament to the top seeded Rockets of Syracuse. The #4 Bulldogs entered the subdistrict tournament with a 12-19 record, compared to the 24-7 record of the host Rockets.

Playoff football started with a bang in Johnson on Thursday, October 19 as the top rated Eagles knocked #16 out of the class D2 football playoffs with 58-0 victory.
Johnson-Brock made quick work of their final three opponents of the 2023 regular season. The Lady Eagles enter subdistrict play on an nine match winning streak dating back to an October 5 win over Palmyra. Johnson-Brock didn’t surrender a single set as they defeated Falls City Sacred Heart, HTRS, and Sterling to close out the regular season with a 21-6 record. The Lady Eagles currently sit sixth in wildcard points in class D1.
