Two Auburn Bulldogs boys’ basketball players were honored by Nebraska’s top daily newspapers on the Class C-1 All-Tournament Team.
During the week of March 7, the Auburn Bulldogs competed at the NSAA Class C-1 State Basketball Championships in hopes of bringing home their fourth straight state title. The Bulldogs made a run at the gold, but fell one play short of a four-peat. Auburn, the #4 seed, opened the tournament with a 34-29 victory over the #5 seed Omaha Concordia (22-4). In the semifinal round, the ‘Dogs needed an extra period, but defeated #8 Fort Calhoun (21-6) 48-46. In their fourth straight appearance in the class C-1 state title game, Auburn fell to #2 Ashland-Greenwood (36-33).

Many kids around the state of Nebraska who fall in love with the game of basketball dream of one day taking their hometown team to the state tournament in Lincoln. For the majority of those kids, that dream never comes true. For Auburn boys basketball’s senior class, making the state tournament is all they know.
Johnson-Brock’s 2021-22 boys basketball season ended at Kearney High School in a 27-38 district final loss to Dundy County-Stratton. Despite falling in their first two games of the season, the Eagles finished 16-10 on the year and earned a spot in one of eight district finals in class D1. Seniors on the Eagle squad are Hunter Gravatt, Caleb Fossenbarger, Kade Davis, Ryan Bohling, and Mason Benham.
