Last season, Auburn golfers Lucy Hayes and Jamisyn Kirkpatrick competed at the NSAA Class C State Girls Golf Championships. Both juniors at the time, Hayes finished in the 50th spot, with Kirkpatrick, who also qualified as a sophomore, coming in 23rd. This year the duo will be heading back to state, but they’ll have a full team with them. The Bulldog girls golf team posted a score of 418 at the district C-1 golf meet in Lincoln earn second place and qualify for state as a team.
The Auburn cross country teams got a sneak peak of what the state meet might look like after competing at the University of Nebraska Kearney invite on Monday, September 25. Many of the best teams in the state of Nebraska competed at the Kearney invite, which is also where state will be hosted.
Coach Tony Janssen called on his senior running back Maverick Binder 23 times in the Friday, September 29 game against Lincoln Christian. Binder came through for his coach, tallying 243 yards and five touchdowns to lead the way for Janssen’s 50th victory by a score of 40-26 over the Crusaders.
Auburn volleyball played five matches this past week, including a 2-2 showing at a multiple day tournament at Ashland-Greenwood. Before the Bulldogs competed in Ashland, they hosted Freeman on Monday, September 25. The Bulldogs improved throughout the match, but fell to the Falcons in three sets.
Entering the week, the Lady Eagles held an 11-3 record, which earned them a #5 rating in class D1 in the Omaha World Herald. Following Johnson-Brock’s Thursday, September 21 meeting with class C2 #9 Freeman, the Lady Eagles would drop to 11-4 on the year, with two of their losses coming at the hands of Freeman.
