Coach Tony Janssen called on his senior running back Maverick Binder 23 times in the Friday, September 29 game against Lincoln Christian. Binder came through for his coach, tallying 243 yards and five touchdowns to lead the way for Janssen’s 50th victory by a score of 40-26 over the Crusaders.
Auburn volleyball played five matches this past week, including a 2-2 showing at a multiple day tournament at Ashland-Greenwood. Before the Bulldogs competed in Ashland, they hosted Freeman on Monday, September 25. The Bulldogs improved throughout the match, but fell to the Falcons in three sets.
Entering the week, the Lady Eagles held an 11-3 record, which earned them a #5 rating in class D1 in the Omaha World Herald. Following Johnson-Brock’s Thursday, September 21 meeting with class C2 #9 Freeman, the Lady Eagles would drop to 11-4 on the year, with two of their losses coming at the hands of Freeman.
12 seconds into Auburn’s homecoming game against Raymond Central, Maverick Binder was in the end zone. The senior running back caught the opening kick in Bulldog territory and went 77 yards for a touchdown on the first play of the game. As well as putting the Bulldogs ahead early, Binder would secure the victory with a late rushing touchdown that made it a two-score game.
The Auburn volleyball team went 2-3 in their past week of play including a 2-1 finish at the Louisville Invite on Saturday, September 23. Earlier in the week, the Bulldogs fell to HTRS on Tuesday, September 19 and Palmyra on Thursday. Following the week of play, the Bulldogs moved to 6-10 on the season.
