First National Bank of Johnson Seniors Fall in Area Tournament to Ashland, Nebraska City, Finish With a 12-18 Record

The First National Bank of Johnson Seniors’ season ended last weekend in the Class B Area 2 tournament after losses to Ashland and Nebraska City. The Seniors earned a #6 rating in the tournament and were matched up against #3 Ashland in the first round. After the loss to Ashland, the Seniors faced #7 Nebraska City in a losers’ bracket game. The Seniors finished 12-18 on the season.

Peru State Football Boosters Participate in Annual Golf Tournament at Auburn Country Club, Head Coach Phil Ockinga in Attendance

The Peru State football Booster Club held their annual golf tournament at the Auburn Country Club on Friday, July 15. Registration began at 8 a.m. with Mike Gerdes explaining the rules to the golfers before the shotgun start at 9 a.m. Peru State Head Football Coach Phil Ockinga addressed the attendees as well and thanked the boosters, organizers, and participants for their support of the Bobcats and the event. Ockinga and members of his coaching staff were around to talk with participants.
