Monty Scott “Scotty” Gottula, 66, of Elk Creek, died Saturday, May 7, 2022 at his home in Elk Creek, Nebraska. Scotty was born September 17, 1955, in Tecumseh to Raymond “Coach” Gottula and Viola (Elenga) Gottula. He was the youngest of two children. Scotty was baptized October 9, 1955 and confirmed May 3, 1970 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Elk Creek.
Kathryn Ann Byfield, 84, passed away at home surrounded by her family and friends on Tuesday morning, April 19, 2022.
Kenneth Paul Heronimus, one of three children of Wilbur J. and Lorna (Helmers) Heronimus, was born October 27, 1949, at Waterloo, Iowa. Ken grew up and attended school at Waterloo, graduating from Waterloo High School.
James Randel Smith, one of four children of Harold G. and Ruth (Randel) Smith, was born April 13, 1935, in Auburn, Nebraska. He attended Cloverdale rural school near the family’s home south of Auburn through the 8th grade and graduated from Auburn High School in 1953. He went on to study at Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln, Nebraska.
William W. Witty Jr., 79 of Syracuse, passed away on May 1, 2022, after a short battle with dementia. William was born on November 25, 1942, to William & Janice (Miesbach) Witty in Nebraska City. After high school he joined the Air Force Reserves until he was honorably discharged in 1967.
