2025 Holiday Lighting Contest Winners
The lights have been judged and the cheer is shining bright! The winners of the annual Nemaha Valley Observer Holiday Lighting Contest have been announced.First place goes to Billy and Crystal Kaster of Sterling, whose display dazzled judges and passersby alike. Second place honors were awarded to Bill Thomas of Auburn, with Larry and Cindy Byfield of Auburn earning third place. An honorable mention goes to Stacy and John Hayes of Auburn.The Observer is delighted to continue this beloved holiday tradition and extends a heartfelt thank-you to everyone in the communities we serve who nominated neighbors—and themselves—to help light up the season.The Observer would also like to send a special thank you to our local business sponsors who help make this contest possible. Collision on Highway 75
Around 1:30 AM on Dec 30, Auburn was jolted when a semi truck collided with a building at 923 Central Ave in Auburn along Highway 75 near the 136 intersection. The collision impacted two units in the building with the primary occupant, Village Design, noting they are closed at this time. The second unit was unoccupied and no injuries were reported.The City of Auburn, Nebraska and Nemaha County Sheriff's Department have secured the site but urge everyone to use caution in this area when near by and respect the boundaries in place.For a full report check out next week's issue of the Observer.
