Randy Scot Kent was born

June 16, 1954, in Tecumseh, Nebraska to parents, Daryl and Mary Annabelle (Annie) Keim Kent. He joined older brother, Larry. He attended grade school and high school in Tecumseh, graduating from Tecumseh High School with the class of 1972.

Randy went on to attend the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, majoring in finance. While there, he met the love of his life, Lona Hartshorn. They were married July 13, 1975, at the Gering Wildcat Hills Amphitheater. They shared 51 years of marriage and were blessed with two daughters, Regan and Shana, as well as five grandchildren.

After their marriage, they moved to California and Randy had a career in the defense industry. On his retirement in 2017, Randy and Lona took many cruises to different places around the world. Upon retirement, Randy also volunteered with the Poway Sheriff’s Office.

Randy passed away on August 10, 2026, in Poway, California where they had lived for years. Preceding Randy in death were baby brother, Daniel Mark in 1959; parents, Daryl and Annie Kent; grandparents, Carl G. and Lucetta Pearl Kent and Louis Henry and Mary Lucille Wolf Keim; Aunt June Heideman and husband Harley; Uncle Mike Keim; Aunt Elna Gieser and husband Bob; and in-laws, John and Lydia Hartshorn.

Randy is survived by his wife, Lona; daughters, Regan and Shana (Jeff); five grandchildren; brother and wife, Larry (Linda) Kent of Colorado.

There will be a private family gathering at a later date in California.
