Brownville Village Board Appoints Jamie Smith During June 12th Meeting

The Brownville Village Board held a meeting on Monday, June 12th to discuss a number of topics. Almost, if not more than, 30 citizens were in attendance, effectively filling the little auditorium. When the time came to begin the meeting, Martin Hayes called for order. When roll was called, however, one of the seats remained empty. Josh Russell, who was the vice chairman of the Village Board was not at the front of the room, having stepped down sometime before the meeting took place. Once roll was called, the public was given some time to address the board with their various opinions and concerns.

Along the west side of Auburn, between “U” Street and “Q” Street, is a 35-acre property featuring a pair of ponds and neat rows of trees, as well as a machine shed and a home. This property is currently owned by Dennis Wheeler, but on March 16th, the city entered into an “option to purchase agreement” with Dennis. Pending the results of an upcoming hearing, as well as a City Council meeting, the city of Auburn plans to purchase the land and have most of the 35 acres graded and prepared with infrastructure to create 29 residential lots and five multi-family lots. Four and five unit townhouses are expected to be built atop the multi-family lots. Third-party developers will bid for both infrastructure jobs and the individual lots.
