SATURDAY, OCT. 7, The “Pride of Auburn” Bulldog Marching Band earned a Division 1 Superior rating at the Bennington Marching Festival. Ben Hanika, director of bands, noted the student- instrumentalists performed well. Women have made incredible strides in the workforce, from just 10 percent of United States women working outside the home in 1840 to 49 percent of new businesses being owned by women in 2021. In order to honor how far women have come, the United States Small Business Association, or SBA, dedicated October as National Women’s Small Business Month.
The Steamboat Trace Trail stretches from Brownville to Nebraska City, following an old rail line that used to run parallel with the Missouri River. On Saturday, Oct. 7, Steve Woerth, a member of the Steamboat Trace Association, and Tim Loseke, the board secretary treasurer for the Nemaha Natural Resources District (NRD), honored the trail with a historical slideshow, presentation and lunch.
