Lady Eagles Capture HTRS Tourney Title; Romp Over Pawnee City and Host Team

Easy victories Friday and Saturday, Dec. 28 and 29 gave the Johnson-Brock Lady Eagles the girls’ championship of the Humboldt/Table Rock-Steinauer (HTRS) tournament. The Lady Eagles defeated Pawnee City 60-29 the first day before a 63-36 triumph over the host squad. Four girls scored in double figures in each of the contests. The Johnson-Brock girls enter 2019 with a 7-3 record. The Titans had advanced to the title game winning 63-50 over Deshler. In the tournament’s third place game, Deshler took a 41-28 win over Pawnee City.

Pawnee City

Jayse Koehler and Jordan Koehler finished with 13 points apiece. Adding 11 points each were Logan Edwards and Elizabeth Hodges. Other scorers were: Hailey Sandfort 9; Audrey Sandfort 4 and Taylor Buchmeier 2. The Lady Eagles jumped out to a 17-2 lead after eight minutes. Rebounds: Jayse Koehler 15; Jordan Koehler 9; Edwards 4; Buchmeier 3; Hailey Sandfort 2; and Joscelyn Behrends and Hodges 1 each. Assists: Jayse Koehler 5; Hodges, Jordan Koehler, Audrey Sandfort and Hailey Sandfort 2 apiece; and 1 each from Behrends, Buchmeier and Edwards. Steals: Edwards, Hodges and Jayse Koehler 3 apiece; 2 from Hailey Sandfort; and 1 each by Behrends, Buchmeier and Audrey Sandfort. Blocks: Jayse Koehler and Audrey Sandfort 2 apiece and Edwards 1. Scoring by Quarters: Johnson-Brock 17-17-6-20--60 Pawnee City 2-10-5-12--29
