Bulldogs Sweep Softball Districts; Heading to Fourth Consecutive Class C State Tournament

Weather delays and change of game sites didn’t stop the Auburn Bulldog softball team from rolling through the Class C-2 district tournament. Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 9, Auburn opened the tournament with a 6 inning, 11-3 triumph over Southern/Diller-Odell at Blue Springs. Thursday, Oct. 10, the Bulldogs broke a 1-1 tie in the fifth inning romping 9-1 over the Freeman Falcons at Beatrice. The game also was 6 innings. Saturday afternoon, Oct. 12, Auburn gained a 9-6 decision over Freeman taking the district crown. The 21-6 Bulldogs faced 25-3 Guardian Angels Central Catholic to open state play Wednesday, Oct. 16. The tournament is played at the Bill Smith Sports Complex in Hastings.
