Bulldogs Rout Tigers to Become #5 Seed Entering C-1 Playoffs

Since a week 1 loss to #3 rated Ashland-Greenwood, the Auburn Bulldog football team had won six straight games coming into week 8 play against Falls City. The Tigers, who last defeated Auburn in 2015, entered the game with a 5-3 record, and showed more size than the Bulldogs.

Although the Tigers put the bigger team on the field on Friday night, Auburn’s weapons this season have fallen more into the categories of speed and athleticism. Those weapons were on full display from the first drive on Friday night. Auburn’s 1-2 punch of Brody Darnell and Ryan Dixon took turns picking up first downs to start the game. Darnell, Auburn’s quarterback who is coming off an injury which caused him to miss a game, had the opportunity to shift positions in the backfield with Dixon, who filled Darnell’s role under center while Darnell was out, periodically filling the quarterback spot. While at quarterback, Dixon took off for a 20-yard touchdown, putting the Bulldogs on the board first.

The Tigers were eventually able to answer in the opening minutes of the second quarter, while also converting on a two-point conversion giving the Tigers an 8-6 lead on the #5 rated Bulldogs.
