Auburn Drops Aug. 20 Softball Season Opener to Visiting Malcolm, 5-7

Thursday night, Aug. 20, the Auburn Bulldog softball team began the high school sports season by losing 5-7 to Malcolm.

The Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead in their first at bat. Malcolm scored twice in the top of the second inning. Auburn regained the lead 4-2 with 3 runs in the bottom of the fourth. The Clippers tallied twice in the sixth and added 3 in the top of the seventh. The Bulldogs scored the final run of the night in the bottom of the last frame.

Malcolm outhit Auburn 10-9.

Hits: Kylie Allen and Leah Grant with 2 apiece, Grant hitting a double. Jamisyn Kirkpatrick slugged a triple. Also hitting safely were Melody Billings, Harmony Franke, Jerzie Maher and Ella Matteen.
