ROBERT “BOB” BOWMAN

1939-2019

Robert Allen Bowman, one of three children of Robert Fredrick and Zethel (Phillips) Bowman, was born December 5, 1939 in Table Rock, Nebraska. He attended school in Table Rock until transferring to Humboldt High School, where he graduated in 1957.

Bob entered the United States Navy on July 30, 1957. He served with Patrol Squadron 44 based out of Norfolk, Virginia until receiving his honorable discharge on December 2, 1960. Bob was in the Naval Reserve until July 29, 1963.

In September of 1998 Bob was united in marriage to Rose Epperson at Rose’s grandparents farm near Auburn, Nebraska. They lived in rural Nemaha County and blended their two families into one.

Bob worked at various jobs throughout his life. He had worked at Cooper Mills in Humboldt, on bridge construction with Beatrice Construction, and detailing cars with Johnson Motor Company in Auburn. While living in Colorado Bob picked peaches and worked at Midas Muffler.

Bob was a former member of the Humboldt American Legion Post and the Lion’s Club. He was very proud of his membership in the NRA and was a die-hard Husker fan. He enjoyed fishing, was an avid gardener, and an innovative tinkerer.

Bob was admitted to Bryan East Medical Center in Lincoln, Nebraska. It was there he passed away on Monday, December 2, 2019, three days before his 80th birthday. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Judy Arnett and granddaughters Tayller Cole and Alayna Bowman.

Those who survive include his wife Rose of Auburn; children and spouses Angela Cole of Omaha, Robert J. Bowman of Lincoln, Mike and Linde Bowman of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida, Scott and Melinda Bowman of Blue Springs, Jesse and Michelle Snyder of Brock, Crystal Snyder of Dunbar, William and Barbie Snyder of Talmage, Nicholas and Amanda Snyder of Talmage; 15 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sister Beverly and husband Harold Gottula of Steinauer; other relatives and friends.

A memorial service was held Saturday, December 7, 2019 at Hemmingsen Funeral Home in Auburn officiated by Rev. Jackie Gfeller. Honorary bearers were Robert Bowman, Travis Cole, Kyle Cole, Tanner Cole, and Mack Bowman.

Burial of ashes will be held at a later date in Table Rock Cemetery at Table Rock.

Services were entrusted to Hemmingsen Funeral Home of Auburn.
