MIKE McCONNELL

Michael Roy McConnell was born January 12, 1950 in Auburn, Nebraska to Roy and Esther (Conn) McConnell. He was one of three children. He grew up and attended school in Auburn and graduated from Auburn High School in 1968.

After high school, Mike went on to Southeast Community College at Milford, Nebraska to receive his automotive technician degree. He then moved back to Auburn to work alongside his father at McConnell’s Repair Shop. Outside of work, Mike enjoyed being a racecar driver, driving the #44 race car at Eagle Raceway and Beatrice Speedway.

On August 3, 2009, Mike was united in marriage to Rohna Kinner in Auburn.

On May 1, 2020, Mike passed away at his home in Auburn having reached the age of 70 years, 3 months, 19 days. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Nancy Rakes.

Mike is survived by his wife Rohna of Auburn; son Brian McConnell of Lincoln; step-son Ken Hatten and wife Kelli of Auburn; step-daughter Renee Erisman and husband Galen of Ft. Knox, KY; grandson Brett Hatten; sister Patricia of Lincoln; other relatives and friends.

Mike’s wishes were to be cremated with no public visitation or service.
