MARY (SULLIVAN) HOY

1959-2019

Mary Catherine Elizabeth Sullivan, daughter of Richard K. and Rose Marie (Marshall) Sullivan, was born June 24, 1959 in Valentine, Nebraska. She attended schools in Valentine, Council Bluffs, Iowa, Humboldt and Auburn, Nebraska before earning her Associates Degree in Culinary Arts at Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs.

In 1976 Mary was married and was divorced in 1978. She was blessed with a daughter, Rose.

Mary worked as a seamstress at the Danny Dare Factory in Auburn for many years. She later worked at Amigos in Auburn, where she retired as assistant manager after developing health issues.

Mary loved to sew, cook, and help other people. She was the primary care giver for her brother Willie and her mother for many years.

On Friday, October 25, 2019 Mary was rushed to the Nemaha County Hospital in Auburn. It was there the same day she passed away at the age of 60 years, 4 months, and 1 day. Her grandparents, father Richard, brother Willie Weihe, and brother-in-law Michael Hill preceded her in death.

Mary is survived by her daughter Rose Hoy of Auburn; mother Rose Sullivan of Auburn; sisters Linda Pahlke of Mandan, N.D.; Elsie Hill of Sabetha, Kansas; Sandy and husband Tom Clark of Auburn; brothers Richard Sullivan, Jr. and wife Wilma of Germany; Patrick Sullivan and wife Lora of Lincoln; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be Wednesday, November 6, 11:00 a.m. at Hemmingsen Funeral Home. Burial of ashes will be at a later date at Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Memorials are suggested to the Auburn Rescue Squad.

Services are entrusted to Hemmingsen Funeral Home of Auburn.
