JERRY L. CHUBICK

1956 - 2023

Jerry Lee Chubick, one of four children of Alfred Mervin and Donna Rae (Lawson) Chubick, was born July 31, 1956, in Hamburg, Iowa. Jerry grew up in Sidney, Iowa, graduating from high school there in 1975. After high school, Jerry enlisted in the United States Navy. After 4 years of service, Jerry then transferred to Naval Reserve and served 2 more years until his honorable discharge in 1981.

After his discharge from the Navy, Jerry moved to Auburn, Nebraska, where he would meet his future bride, Dee Ann Pohlman in the winter of 1982. Jerry and Dee were united in marriage on September 19, 1987, in Tecumseh at the home of Dee’s brother. They made their home in Auburn, and were blessed with the addition of two children, Alex and Nikki.

While in Auburn, Jerry was employed at Cablevision, working as a service technician for 20+ years. Jerry then began working for Rich Wilson at Wilson Electric and taking care of the Super Suds Car Wash for 15 years.

Jerry was a member of the First United Methodist Churches in both Auburn and Brock. He also belonged to the Auburn JayCees and the Auburn Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 3767. An avid reader, Jerry was well-known at the Auburn Memorial Library. He also enjoyed gardening, fishing, and was a big Nebraska Cornhusker Volleyball fan. Jerry was a true family man, he loved his children, his grandchildren, and he especially loved his wife and being able to care for her as her health began to fail before her passing in 2018. He poured his entire heart into his family and did everything he could to be a part of their lives and support them.

On the morning of Tuesday, December 19, 2023, Jerry unexpectedly passed away at his home in Auburn, having reached the age of 67 years, 4 months, and 18 days. Besides his wife, Dee, Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Bob.
