1920-2004

Helen L. Hunt, age 103 of Lee’s Summit, Mo., died Saturday, Feb. 10, 2024.

She was born July 9, 1920 in Auburn, Nebraska, the daughter of William D. and Blanche Snyder. The Snyder family was a pioneer family in Nemaha County. Hunt’s grandfather was Edward Snyder who homesteaded a farm 2 miles East of Auburn in 1865. She grew up on the farm which remained in the family until 1950. The original Snyder homestead is now the Auburn Airport.

Hunt served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1946. She married Harold Hunt, Feb. 7, 1948 in Auburn. Hunt worked in the advertising and publishing industry for several years.

She was a member of the Overland Park Lutheran Church.

Hunt was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Hunt. She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Janice (George) Prucha, Judy (Rich) Prucha, Bill Kizer, Richard (Kris Mc-Cann) Gray, Rhonda (Don) Maddux, John (Elena) Hunt, Cathy Hunt, Myra Lou (Scott) Fouts and other great-nieces and nephews.

Graveside service was Saturday, Feb. 17, at Johnson County Memorial Gardens in Overland Park, Kan.
