HAROLD G. BIERE

1929-2023

Harold George Biere was born December 10, 1929, on a farm near Auburn, Nebraska. One of five sons of George and Mary (Schmidt) Biere, Harold attended rural school near his home. A lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Auburn, it was there he was baptized on January 1, 1930, and confirmed April 2, 1944.

On May 31, 1953, Harold was united in marriage to Jean P. Bohling. They were blessed with a daughter, Sherry, and made their home in Nemaha County, mostly in Auburn.

Harold drove a truck for his living and owned and operated Biere Trucking. After retiring from trucking, he shuttled cars for Meyer-Earp Chevrolet in Auburn.

A horse lover, Harold was happy doing anything that involved horses. He was a member of the Nemaha County Saddle Club and worked with 4-H. He had also been a member of the Auburn Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad.

In his later years Harold loved driving around town in his car and socializing. Anything he could do to help others, he would.

After Jean’s passing in 2006, Harold continued to live in Auburn on his own until 2020, when he became a resident of the Good Samaritan Society-Auburn. He made the most of his time there visiting with other residents and family and friends who came to see him. He passed away at Good Sam on Friday, August 25, 2023, at the age of 93 years, 8 months, and 15 days. In addition to his wife Jean and his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his brothers Marvin, Raymond (Norma), and Harlan (Donna).

Those left to mourn are his daughter and son-inlaw Sherry and Ron Heskett of Nemaha; grandchildren Heather Pemberton of Auburn, Amanda Heskett of Nemaha, Matthew (Audra) Heskett of Auburn; great-grandchildren Ethan and Ryan Pemberton, Hazel Heskett; brother and sistersin- law Arlan and Carolyn Biere of Creston, IA, Evelyn Biere of Auburn; other relatives and friends.

A funeral service, officiated by Rev. Paul Lillenas, was Thursday, August 31, 2023, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Auburn. Edith Schlange was organist and accompanist for congregational hymns. Burial followed in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery near Auburn.

Services were entrusted to Hemmingsen Funeral Home of Auburn.
