FRED E. CASH

Fred Eugene Cash, 78, of Humboldt, Nebraska was born on January 28, 1939, in Kearney, Nebraska to Walter and Dorothy (Kersting) Cash. He grew up in Kearney and attended school there. After his schooling, Fred enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served his country from August 29, 1960 until being honorably discharged from Camp Pendleton, California on November 30, 1963. Fred was united in marriage to Cheryl Hathaway on May 11, 1970. The couple lived in Dunbar, Nebraska before moving to Otoe in 1979 and later in 1986 moved to Humboldt. Fred and Cheryl divorced in 1996, but were later rejoined in marriage on January 6, 2014. Fred worked for 17 years and retired from the Nebraska Department of Roads. Fred passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2017, at the Community Medical Center in Falls City, Nebraska having reached the age of 78 years, ten months, and two days. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister LeeEtta Winslow, a brother Ken Cash, and brother-in-law Bruce Grimes. Fred is survived by his loving wife Cheryl Cash of Humboldt, Neb.; children: John Cash and wife Karla of Humboldt; Charlotte Jordan and husband Chris of West Plains, Missouri; Dan Cash of Humboldt; Michele Veltrop and husband Troy of Earling, Iowa; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother Robert Cash and wife Julie of Calimesa, Calif.; a sister Bev Grimes of Chambers, Neb.; half-brothers: Gary Clevinger of Lincoln, Neb.; Steve Clevinger of Kearney, Neb.; Rick Clevinger of Kearney; half-sister Connie Lawn of Hastings, Neb.; and many other relatives and friends. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions are suggested to the family’s choice with a later designation.
