CHUCK BENSLEY

1971-2019

Chuck Bensley, 48, of Lincoln, passed away while providing for his family, on August 17, 2019, at Bryan West Hospital in Lincoln. He was born July 29, 1971, to the late John Bensley and Beverly (Burger) Bensley in Seattle, Wash. Chuck graduated from Auburn High School and Peru State College. He honed his Carpentry and Construction skills working for Pieters Construction, Lavigne Construction, K2 Construction, KWest Construction and Hampton Enterprises.

Chuck was joined in marriage to Amanda (Cave) in September 2000 in Duncan, Neb., and to this union a spunky girl, Brylie, was born.

Chuck was a carpenter and jack-of-all-trades who freely gave of his time and talents to anyone in need of help on a household project. Countless lives were touched by Chuck’s willingness to lend a hand, no matter how big or small the project. While others might want to leave the job at work, Chuck never hesitated to help a friend in his “spare” time. His friends, family and neighbors will remember him with one hand holding a beer and the other outstretched, ready to help.

Chuck’s many hobbies including hanging out with friends, pondering all of the crazy projects Amanda gave him, fishing, golfing, listening to the St. Louis Cardinals baseball on the radio, listening to Husker baseball and football, playing catch with Brylie, teaching Brylie the finer aspects of golf, and showing off his dance moves as a member of the clogging dads Dream Team.

He is survived by his wife, Amanda; daughter, Brylie; mother, Beverly; brother, John; aunt Barb and uncle Eldon Moore; grandmother, Betty Cave; father-in-law Larry Cave, mother-in-law Julie, sister-inlaw Maddie; mother-in-law Barb Iwan, father-in-law Dave; sister-in-law Staci Haynes, special friend Matt Bahr, niece Kara Jansen, special friend Chad Brummer, great-niece Addisyn, goddaughter Brooke Haynes, nephew Brendan Haynes; brother-in-law Brian Iwan, niece Alexis Beiermann, niece Ava Iwan; brother-inlaw Derek (Tanya) Cave, niece Aubrey; brother-in-law Zach Cave, niece Josalynn; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, co-workers, neighbors and recipients of his many carpentry talents.

While the events surrounding our last days with Chuck were full of shock and sorrow, sadness would not be a fitting legacy for Chuck. Rather, through the miracle of organ donation, Chuck’s legacy will mirror his life: a selfless giving of himself to others. To help us celebrate his life, please join us on Friday, August 23rd at 10 a.m. at St Peter Catholic Church (4500 Duxhall Dr, Lincoln, NE). Visitation will be Thursday, August 22nd from 6-8 p.m. at Butherus, Maser & Love (4040 A Street, Lincoln, NE).

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to family for future designation.

In honor of Chuck, who hated to dress up, please wear Husker, St. Louis Cardinals or golf gear.
