CARL D. BAKER

1933-2019

Carl Duane Baker was born on July 26, 1933 in Howe, Nebraska; the son of Ben Ervin and Marie Ella (Garver) Baker. He attended school in Auburn and graduated from the Auburn High School with the class of 1950. Later in life, he went on to college at Peru State where he earned a degree in Business Agriculture Management/Business Administration in 1988.

He was united in marriage to Janet L. Storant on June 30, 1957 at the Stella Community Church in Stella, Neb. She preceded him in death on Dec. 14, 2000. Carl farmed and worked at various jobs over the years. He loved raising Black Angus Cattle and hogs and received numerous awards for his livestock. He also was very active in 4-H with his daughters and together they had numerous grand champions at the fair.

Carl was very involved in the community, serving as Board Member, Sunday School Superintendent and Sunday School Teacher at Nemaha Christian Church, a Board Member of Southeast Consolidated Schools, Higgins 4-H Leader and an Elder and member of Auburn Christian Church.

Carl loved to dance, especially to Big Band music. He loved the Lord and loved spending time with his family.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters: Jackie Williams of Peru, Neb. and Cindy Kreifels and husband Matthew of Nebraska City; grandchildren: Justin Williams of Beatrice, Neb. Jennifer Smithpeter (Rick) of Elkhorn and Nathan Williams (Ashley) of Peru; great-grandchildren: Samantha Chaney, Brent, Ty and Roscoe Smithpeter and Madalyn, Laynie and Keith Williams; sister Margaret Jones of Beatrice; brotherin-law Raymond Eickhoff of Falls City, Neb.; numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

In addition to his wife Janet, he was preceded in death by his son in law Keith Williams and a sister Mary Eickhoff; niece Debbie Yates and nephew Allen Yates.

A Celebration of Life was held on Monday, March 4, 2019 at Auburn Christian Church in Auburn, with Pastor Nate Powell officiating. A time of fellowship and brunch at the church followed the services.
