Bradford K. Johnson, 70 years of age, of Beatrice passed away Thursday, December 7, 2023 at Bryan Medical Center West in Lincoln. He was born in Beatrice on June 15, 1953 to Kenneth and Roseanne (Kennedy) Johnson.

Brad graduated from high school in 1972 in Auburn. He married Diane Wintz on April 15, 1979 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Auburn. Brad was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Beatrice and was also a Mason. He attended Peru State College until his father became ill. Brad took over running the grocery store in Peru until he was better. Brad’s last job was at NEAPCO for 35 years.

He enjoyed his time with his wife, children and grandchildren, family, friends and his children’s friends who would call him Dad. Brad loved music, going to movies, fishing, motorcycles, photography and playing TTRPG games. His favorite job was at Christmas time working for Santa Claus and donning the red suit. Brad’s grandson, Seamus always said he gets special magic from Santa to remember all of the children’s wishes to tell Santa. Brad had a way with everyone and the gift of gab.

Brad is survived by his wife, Diane; children, Clinton Johnson and wife Jane Henry-Johnson of Palmer, Alaska; Matthew Johnson and significant other Dawn Skala of Garland; Kindra Boles and husband Chase of Beatrice; grandchildren, Ashlynn and Seamus Boles, Bobby Johnson, Melody and Aria Johnson; brother, Theodore Johnson of Beatrice; mother-in-law, Ginger Wintz of Auburn; sister-in-law, Laura Mullins of Beatrice; brothersin- law, Robert Wintz and wife Samantha of Auburn, Vance Hipke of Chapman; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Leonard Wintz; brother-in-law, Steve Mullins; and sister-in-law, Sharon Hipke.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 15, 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Beatrice with Fr. Joseph Faulkner presiding. Interment will follow in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery north of Beatrice. A rosary will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the church. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice from 2 to 8 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Cerebral Palsy Foundation or Gary Sinise Foundation in care of the mortuary.
