BOB O. BELL

1929-2022

Bob O. Bell, age 93, Auburn, died Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at Auburn. He was born October 14, 1929 at Amistad, N.M., son of Clinton and Thelma (Steele) Bell. He married Wilma James May 23, 1954 at the Christian Church parsonage. She died February 20, 2018.

Bell was drafted into the U.S. Army January 11, 1951. He served in the Korean War and then in the U.S. Army Reserves. He was honorably discharged on December 6, 1956 as a corporal.

Bell lived in many places growing up and following the war he moved to Colorado in 1952. In 1953 Bell moved to Auburn where he worked for Auburn Electric Motors and then for Humphrey Motors. In 1954 the couple moved to Gila Bend, Ariz. where he worked at guided missile range and missile testing sites. They moved to Salina, Kan. where Bell worked for Ryder Truck Company as a mechanic and later he worked for Western Auto.

Bell later worked part time for Sam’s Club. He moved to Hiawatha, Kan. in 2018 and later to Auburn. Bell enjoyed carving walking sticks and canes.

Surviving are a brother, Ben of Great Falls, Mont.; sister, Lucy Scott of Oklahoma City; in-laws Dean and Marian James of Stella; and nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife, Bell was preceded by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, Dec. 3 at 11 a.m. at Prairie Union Cemetery with Pastor John States officiating. Military graveside honors by Shubert American Legion Post.
