BETTY J. McMANN

1933-2020

Betty June McMann, one of six children of Floyd and Georgia (Conover) Shiveley, was born July 29, 1933, at Nemaha, Nebraska. Betty grew up on several different farms throughout southeast Nebraska, and attended several different schools before graduating from Brownville High School.

On April 12, 1952, Betty was united in marriage to Donald “Bud” McMann at Brownville, Nebraska. The couple would be blessed with two sons, Donald and Vern.

Betty was a member of the Brownville Christian Church. She also belonged to the Eagles and a square-dancing club. Betty enjoyed sewing and gifting her family with her homemade clothing. She was an avid gardener, loved putting together puzzles, and couponing. Throughout the years, Betty took many trips, including Hawaii, Alaska, Graceland, and multiple trips to Branson.

When her health no longer allowed her to stay at home, Betty moved to Pleasant View at Rock Port, Missouri. It was there that she passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2020, having reached the age of 86 years, 10 months, and one day. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, sisters Dorothy Sierks and Lois Keene, granddaughter Rachel Curry, and step-great-granddaughter Chloe Curry.

Those left to mourn her passing are her sons Jeff McMann of Peru, Vern McMann of Brownville; granddaughter Alicia McMann of Auburn; sisters Esther Moore of Rock Port, Mo., Deloris Shaw of Tarkio, Mo.; brother Donald “Buckshot” Shiveley of Ashland; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A funeral service, officiated by Rev. John States, was Saturday, June 6, 2020 at Hemmingsen Funeral Home in Auburn. Casket bearers were Lonnie Sierks, David Sierks, Allan Keene, Rick Shaw, Joe Sierks, Josh Sierks, Jesse Sierks, Waylon Ross, and Dustin Ross. Chuck Sierks, Albert Shaw, and Barton Shaw were honorary bearers.

Burial was in Walnut Grove Cemetery at Brownville. Services were entrusted to Hemmingsen Funeral Home of Auburn.
