1971-2018

Anne M. Leonard, 47, of Seneca, Kansas, lost her battle against cancer on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca, with her family by her side. Anne was born on June 5, 1971 in Tecumseh, Nebraska to Jim and Penni Jewell Reimers. She grew up in Brock, Neb. and attended Brock Elementary School and Johnson-Brock High School where she graduated in 1989. Anne attended the University of Nebraska where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology. She then earned her Master’s Degree at the University of Kansas. Anne began her professional career at Saint Francis Hospital in Topeka and also worked at Kansas Rehabilitation Hospital. When she moved to Seneca, she began working at Onaga Community Hospital and Eastridge Nursing home in Centralia where she continued to work until early 2018. She also has worked at Life Care Center of Seneca, Sabetha Manner and most recently at Crestview Nursing & Residential Living, where she worked until the last few months. On May 27, 1995 she married Todd Leonard in Nebraska City. They celebrated 23 years of marriage and enjoyed a trip to the Holy Land this past June. Anne was wonderful mother and always enjoyed attending her kids’ various activities. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and the St. Ann’s Altar Society in Seneca. She was also a member of The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and The Kansas Speech-Language-Hearing Association (KSHA). Anne is survived by her husband Todd; five children, Abby (19), Andrew (17), Wade (14), Graham (9) and Sophia (5); her sister Lori Dalrymple and brother-in-law Doug Mole of Lawrence; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Anne was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Penni Reimers; and her grandparents, August and Madelyn Reimers and Bob and Marjorie Jewell. Rosaries were prayed at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Seneca on Monday, October 8, 2018. The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated by Fr. Reggie Saldanha on Tuesday, October 9 at Sts. Peter and Paul’s Catholic Church. The draping of the pall was done by her husband and children. The lector was Julie Layton and the petitions were read by Maggie Hammes. Giftbearers were her children. Music was provided by Kyle Rottinghaus. A special eulogy was given by her husband, Todd. Pallbearers were Nate Thiesfeld, Joe Thiesfeld, Jeff Jewell, Andy Jewell, Matt Jewell, Ben Jewell, Jimmy Garrett, Darin Huss and Jason Arthur. Carrying Anne to final resting place, in the Sts. Peter and Paul’s Catholic Church Cemetery, were her husband and five children. Lauer Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
