SEDHD Stops Use of Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 Vaccine

The Southeast District Health Department (SEDHD) is pausing administering the Johnson & Johnson/Janssen COVID-19 vaccine.

Grant Bruggemann, director, notes the action follows recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

On Tuesday, April 13, CDC and FDA released a joint statement recommending a pause on Johnson & Johnson/Janssen vaccinations nationwide. The move was after receiving reports of a rare but severe type of blood clot in individuals who have received the single-dose vaccine.
