ILENE KIMES

Ilene Kimes, 90, of Lincoln, Nebraska (formerly of Dawson, Neb.), passed away August 7, 2018. She was born April 20, 1928 on a farm near Salem, Neb., the daughter of Fred and Roseanna (Hogue) Harring. Ilene married Gordon Kimes on April 21, 1946 at Humboldt, Neb. He passed away April 5, 2013. Ilene was raised in the Salem/Verdon area and graduated Dawson High School in 1945. She went on to become a nurse with Dr. Heim in Humboldt. She was employed at the Humboldt Hospital and Colonial Acres in Humboldt, Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Auburn and did in-home nursing care for 10 years. She also managed the lunch program for the Dawson-Verdon Schools for a period of time and then was a dental assistant for Dr. Tracey. Her hobbies were quilting, crocheting, flower gardening and she had a passion for cooking and baking all her life. She was a member of the Christian Church at Humboldt. Surviving are a son, Ronald and his wife Candy of Hickman, Neb.; daughter, Beverly Kelsay of Lincoln, seven grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; sister Colene (Bill) Hance of Lincoln; brother Walt (Barb) Harring of Lincoln; and nieces and nephews. Ilene was preceded in death by her husband, parents, step-mother Violet Harring, and brothers Harlan Harring and Marvin Harring. Funeral services were held on Monday, August 13, 2018 at the Christian Church in Humboldt with Reverend Howard Blecha officiating. Interment was in the Heim Cemetery. Open viewing and visitation will begin Sunday afternoon. Dorr and Clark Funeral Home of Falls City was in charge of arrangements. (402)-245-2424.
