VELMA M. (CASPERS) LOVELADY 1930-2016

Velma M. (Caspers) Lovelady was born the first child of Diedrich (Dick) and Erna (Panning) Caspers at the farm home near Auburn, Nebraska on April 25, 1930. Velma entered her heavenly home on December 15, 2016. Velma was baptized in 1930 and confirmed in 1943 at the St. John (Stone) Church near Auburn. Velma married Kenneth D. Lovelady on April 24, 1949 at the St. John (Stone) Church and they were blessed with one son Alan. Velma attended District 74, Shurtleff School through the 8th grade. She went to high school at the Bratton Union Consolidated School and graduated in 1946. Velma was a Cub Scout Den mother and active in the church as Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher. She was an active member of the WELCA Lutheran Church ladies meetings. Velma was a member of Johnson Federation of Women’s Club for a number of years and held several offices including President. She later joined the Auburn Federation of Women’s Club. She was preceded in death by her husband Kenny, her parents Diedrich (Dick) and Erna Caspers, grandparents, uncles and aunts and several cousins. She is survived by her son Alan L. and wife Charlotte Lovelady; grandchildren David Alan, Daniel Jonathan, Christine Charlotte; sister Alice M. Caspers; sisters-in-law; cousins, and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held Tuesday, December 20, 2016, at St. Paul (Hickory Grove) Lutheran Church, officiated by Rev. Paul Lillenas. Deanne Gerking was organist for soloist Allyn Remmers and congregational hymns. Harvey Rogge, Patrick Rogge, Larry Remmers, Terry Neddenriep, Dan Hodges, and Mark Caspers served as casket bearers. Marilyn Woerlen and Pat Rogge were flower attendants. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Services were entrusted to Hemmingsen Funeral Home of Auburn.
