2017 Rates, Fees Approved by Auburn BPW; Electric Rates Rise 1.5 Percent Effective with January Usage Numbers

Auburn Board of Public Works (BPW) electrical customers will have a 1.5 percent rate increase effective with their January usage.

 

Thursday night, Nov. 10, the utility board approved the 2017 rate and fee packet. Customers will not see the increase until receiving their February bill. Residential service includes single-family dwellings, apartments, condominiums and mobile homes with towing devices removed which are individually metered.

 

The changes on residential service are as follows:

 

Urban residential service customers, those living within the Auburn city limits: $9.95 base amount, up five cents; energy charge in summer of $0.0866 per kilowatt (kWh) hour for all usage during summer, up from $0.0851; winter energy charge of $0.0923 per kWh for first 1,000 kWh, an increase from $0.0909 and $0.0526 kWh for use exceeding 1,000 kWh, no change. Minimum monthly bill will be $16, a $1 increase.

 

Summer charges are from the meter reading on or after June 1 until the meter reading on or after Oct. 1, approximating June through September usage. Winter charges are from the meter reading on or after Oct. 1 until the meter reading on or after June 1, approximating October through May usage.
