Auburn Christmas Opening Brings Good Turnout Despite Cold

THE CHRISTMAS season began in Auburn Thursday, Nov. 17 with the Chamber of Commerce’s annual Christmas opening. TOP LEFT, area vocalists sing familiar Christmas selections before the tree lighting on the Union Bank & Trust grounds. You can hear the ensemble Sunday afternoon, Nov. 27 at 2 p.m. at Auburn Berean Church to open the Advent season. TOP RIGHT, the Fire Pup accompanied St. Nicholas as the Auburn Volunteer Fire Department brought the visitor from the North Pole to the corner of 12th and J Street. Despite temperatures around 30 degrees and a north wind, a good turnout of all ages gathered. BOTTOM LEFT, Santa Claus is interviewed by Leslie Clark, Auburn Chamber of Commerce executive director. BOTTOM RIGHT, Kairi Avelyn, 3 years of age, was among many area children visiting with Santa at Ryan and Sunny’s Korner Kitchen. CENTER, when driving through Auburn along Highway 75, you can see the lighted Christmas tree.
