State Senator Julie Slama Deserves Your Support in 2020, Ricketts Tells Crowd

On Friday night, Dec. 6, Gov. Pete Ricketts praised the work of state Sen. Julie Slama during her initial Legislative year.

A crowd of supporters gathered at Bowldog Alley as the rural Peru resident and Auburn High School alumnus launched her campaign for a full term in the Unicameral.

“I am overwhelmed by the amount of people here tonight. I see many of you excited about building the future of Southeast Nebraska. That’s what keeps me going. We’re building a brighter future. In Southeast Nebraska, many young people want to come back in droves,” Slama noted.

The governor stated Slama is doing a “fantastic job getting out, working hard, knocking on doors and doing events.” She was appointed to serve District 1 in the Legislature in late December 2018 filling the remaining two years of the term of Sen. Dan Watermeier. Watermeier won election to the Nebraska Public Service Commission.
