Sheriff Authorized to Purchase Phone System for LEB Addition

The Nemaha County Commissioners on Wednesday, Dec. 26, authorized Sheriff Brent Lottman to use his discretion on acquiring a telephone system for the law enforcement building addition.

The county has obtained a $6,798.80 bid from Huntel involving 24 new telephones. An offer to buy three telephones while getting another free was valid through Monday, Dec. 31. Lottman informed the board that the new addition will have 22 phone plug-ins. He favors keeping a spare unit in case a phone falters.

The sheriff continued he expected to also receive a bid from Diode Technology. If it was submitted by Friday, Dec. 28, Lottman received board authorization to accept the lower bid obtained. Lottman did not know which company would submit the less expensive bid. The phone system will be purchased out of the sheriff’s department budget.

Bryan Mellage, District 2 commissioner, said the board knows the sheriff will make the best decision for Nemaha County. Commissioners requested Lottman inform them on what he decides involving the phone system.
