Shane Keeling New Director of Special Education at APS

In his 22nd year in education, Shane Keeling is joining Auburn Public Schools (APS) as director of special education. He succeeds Amy Kroll, now at Weeping Water Public Schools.

Keeling comes to APS from David City, where he spent the past five years as special services director, providing services to the public school as well as St. Mary’s and Aquinas. Those included Title I and English Language Learners programs as well as 504 plans. The latter is developed by schools to give children with disabilities the support they need. He has spent most of his professional career in Nebraska except for a time at Glenwood, Iowa. Other more recent stops have been as elementary principal and Title I coordinator at Central City and seventh through 12th grade principal and activities director at North Loup-Scotia.
