Seven New COVID-19 Nemaha County Cases

Nemaha County had seven newly confirmed coronavirus (COVID-19) afflictions from Sunday, Jan. 31 through Saturday, Feb. 6.

That is a decrease from 19 incidences during the last full week of January. It is also the first time in at least three months new reports from the county have fallen into single digits.

The Southeast District Health Department (SEDHD) reports 73 occurrences throughout the five counties in its latest update. That is five illnesses over the prior report. Cumulative cases from SEDHD since the pandemic started totals 3,445.

Otoe County had 43 new afflictions this week, eight more than the previous week. All other counties had new reports in single digits: Pawnee 9, Johnson 8 and Richardson 6. Last week’s totals were: Pawnee 2, Johnson 5 and Richardson 7.

Nearly 20 percent of the new incidences came from individuals age 6o to 69 years. Four other age groups were between 10 and 20 percent: 30-39, 50-59, 40-49 and 10-19. The rest of the order is: 9 and under, 20-29 and 70-79.
