December Was Warmer, Drier Than Normal

December averaged 2.7 degrees above normal. The maximum was 66 degrees on December 9th, and the minimum was 3 degrees on Christmas morning. There were eight daily maximums at or below freezing, while normal is 10. All 31 December days had minimums at or below freezing, three more than normal.

December precipitation totaled 0.95”, or 0.20” below normal. There were three days of measurable precipitation, which is four less than normal. The daily maximum was 0.71” on December 29th. Snowfall totaled 6.5”, which is 1.3” below normal. There were nine days with 1” or more of snow on the ground, while normal is 11. The maximum daily snowfall was 4.6” on the 29th. The maximum snow depth was 3” on the final three days of the month.
