Brownville’s Water Storage Tank Repaired and Returned to Service
By Paul Fish
Repairs were completed Wednesday, February 22, on the Brownville water storage tank located just north of the village. A leak in the tank had been discovered in early February at about the 25 foot level of the 60 foot tall silo-like water storage facility.
The amount of water stored was then reduced from 100,000 gallons to about 20,000 gallons because of the leak. This provided enough water for a continued supply for the village, but not enough for fire protection All surrounding fire departments were put on alert that water must be trucked into Brownville in case o fire.
