Auburn Resident Addresses Council About Letter Received Citing Violation of City Code Regarding Banned Poultry, Fowl on Property

Auburn resident Linda Dickens addressed the Auburn City Council during this month’s meeting regarding a letter which she received citing a violation of a city ordinance involving banned animals. Dickens has been notified that she is in violation of a city ordinance for maintaining poultry, chickens, turkeys and other fowl within Auburn’s city limits (or extraterritorial jurisdiction) at 1319 26th Street.

In a letter received from City Attorney Angelo Ligouri, Dickens was advised that she had seven days to correct or resolve her code violations. After such a time, the City would file code violations in the Nemaha County Court seeking a $500 fine for each day that her code violations remain. In addition, the chicken and duck coops must be torn down and properly removed as they are a nuisance to the community.
