Auburn Christian Church Prepares Lots for Future Fellowship Center

Firefighters and staff from the Auburn Christian Church burned down a dilapidated house and former auto center south of 14th Street between J Street and Courthouse Avenue on July 1 to make way for the Family Life Center the church is planning to build on that plot.

“It’s going to be a multi-purpose facility that the church can use, and then we’ll eventually open it up for the community to use during the week and host other activities,” said Auburn Christian Church Board Chairman Todd Zimmerman. “It’ll be a place to hold our fellowship dinners and host youth activities, also.”

The church began planning to build a community center about seven years ago after realizing they needed a bigger fellowship space than the church’s basement, where its current fellowship hall is located. The board decided to buy the land at the corner of 14th Street and J Street in June 2016.
