Auburn Board of Health Continues Mayor White’s Mask Proclamation

At its initial meeting Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 30, the Auburn Board of Health unanimously approved continuing Mayor Dan White’s proclamation issued Wednesday, Nov. 25.

Under the announcement, individuals in Auburn should wear face coverings when appropriate. It is an attempt to slow and work towards further reducing the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).

Before the vote, White states he believes the declaration works. He continues that during the more than 30 days since it took effect, he has been observing more people wearing masks around the city. The mayor also suggests everyone continue “shopping small and shopping locally.”

White, Shawn Clark and Dan Johnson all voted in favor. Dr. Gary Ensz, reporting via telephone, encouraged extending the statement, calling it less controversial than a mandate.
