DOLORES KATHLEEN GLASSER

1928 - 2026

Dolores Kathleen Glasser, one of twelve children of Elsie Margaret Sagehorn and Fred John August Rhode, was born November 4, 1928 at the family home in rural Hampton, Nebraska. She was baptized by Pastor H.W. Degner on November 18, 1928, at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Hampton. Her sponsors were Bertha Rhode and Louis Sagehorn.

She attended grade school at Immanual Lutheran in rural Polk, Nebraska. On March 29, 1942, she was confirmed by Pastor Carl F. Juergensen. Her confirmation verse was Romans 1:16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek”. She graduated from eighth grade on May 25, 1942. She then attended Polk High School, graduating on May 16, 1946.

On April 25, 1948 Dolores was united in marriage to Wayne Theodore Glasser at the Immanuel Lutheran Church Parsonage in rural Polk, Nebraska. Their first home was in Grand Island, Nebraska. They lived in several other Nebraska communities before settling in Madison, Nebraska in 1957. They would be blessed with two children, Michael Wayne and Melissa Kathleen.

Dolores worked for nine years at the General Telephone Company and another nine years at Cengas, both in Madison, Nebraska. She and Wayne also managed the golf course there for several years after Wayne retired. They were long time members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Madison, Nebraska. For health reasons, they moved to the home of their daughter in Auburn, Nebraska on August 15, 2015. Wayne passed away on September 29, 2015. Dolores moved with her daughter and son-in-law to Omaha, Nebraska in December, 2020. She became a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Omaha also in December 2020. She then moved again with Dan and Melissa to Bennington, Nebraska on July 1, 2023. Dolores passed away at home with family present on Saturday, August 8, 2026 at the age of 97 years, 9 months, and 4 days.

She is survived by her children and their families: Michael Glasser and daughter-in-law Deb, Emma and Travis Yocum, Lily Glasser and fiancé Nick Salwei; Melissa Buman and sonin- law Daniel, Michael Curry and fiancée Shannon Gray. Also surviving her are sisters-in-law Betty Jackson and Jane Hanley. Dolores also leaves behind Pretzel, her most beloved Havapoo.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by all her siblings and their spouses: Sisters Elvera and George Weiler, Margaret and Eric Heiden, Dorothy and Elmer Sackchewsky, Helen and Melvin Ehlers, Luella Rash, Phyllis and Richard Pinnow, and Barbara and Franklin Pinnow; brothers Edgar and Lorette Rhode, Clarence and Isabel Rhode, and Donald Rhode and Delbert Rhode in infancy. She was also preceded in death by brothers-in-law Gene Glasser, Leland Jackson and Jim Hanley, granddaughter-in-law Rachel Kellee Curry and great granddaughter Chloe Leann Curry.

Her funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on August 22, 2026, at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 1821 N 90th Street, in Omaha with Pastor Eric L. Jay officiating. A private burial will be held at Crown Hill Cemetery, Madison, Nebraska, at a later date, officiated by Pastor Richard L. Snow.
