1947 - 2026

Loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, and friend, Judith Kay Huff, 79, passed away peacefully August 13, 2026, at The Brant at Gretna. Judy was born June 15, 1947, in Humboldt, Nebraska, and raised on her parents’ farm outside Auburn, Nebraska. She graduated from Johnson High School in 1965, where she was active in chorus, glee club, pep club, and the school paper. A talented musician, she served as the organist at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Johnson, the same church where she was baptized. She also spent her youth working on the family farm and helping her mother bake wedding cakes.

Judy married Charles K. Huff on December 21, 1967, in Johnson. Together, they raised three daughters and spent decades operating CJ’s Homecenter in Ralston, Nebraska, and later Center Hardware, before enjoying retirement in the Florida Keys and later returning to Nebraska.

Judy loved her family dearly, especially her grandchildren, and also loved long walks, playing the piano, gardening, cooking, baking, sewing, crafting and reading. She had a bright smile, warm personality and always welcomed everyone.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Opal Oestmann, and siblings, Ron and Beverly Oestmann.

Judy is survived by her husband of 58 years, Charles K. Huff; her brother and sisterin- law, Willis and Carol Oestmann; brother-in-law, Ron L. Oestmann; her daughters and sons-in-law, Tisha and John Burkholder, Lori and Clay Maranville, and Christine and Chip Holland; and her grandchildren, James Burkholder and his wife, Rachel Jackson, Patrick Burkholder, Jackson Burkholder, Alex Maranville and his wife, Krysta, Sydney Maranville, Piper Holland, and Keltie Holland.

A private celebration of life will be held later. Memorials may be directed to the Turtle Hospital (2396 Overseas Hwy, Marathon, FL 33050) or any charity supporting dementia care.
