JIM “JIMMY” HALL
JIM “JIMMY” HALL
James C. Hall, son of James Paul and Mary Jane (Schneidewind) Hall, passed away Monday, June 22, 2026. Jim was born July 24, 1946, in Auburn, Nebraska. Jim lived most all of his 79 years in the Nemaha area. He was baptized as a young boy at the Nemaha Christian Church and attended school in Nemaha, graduating from Nemaha High School in 1964. After high school, Jim attended one year at Peru State College before enlisting in the United States Navy.
On February 25, 1966, Jim enlisted in the United States Navy. Jim served in the Navy as a SeaBee for 2 tours of service, building bridges in Vietnam with his unit. On April 3, 1969, Jim was honorably discharged from active duty and transferred to Naval Reserve.
When he returned from active duty, Jim lived for a short time in Lincoln, Nebraska where he met Linda, his wife of 54 years. They were married on December 11, 1971, and lived in the Nemaha community for the remainder of Jim’s life. Two children were born to this union, daughter Jessica JaLynn and son Matthew James. Matt was tragically lost on March 27, 1998.
Jim and his brother Allan owned J&A Service in Nemaha for several years before he began employment at Cooper Nuclear Station in Brownville, first in the maintenance department and then as a welder, retiring in 2014.
Jim enjoyed those retirement years doing exactly what he wanted…eating daily homecooked meals made by Linda and staying within 100 miles of his farm. His shop was his domain-- there was never a tool or a toy out of place, and he never met a challenging project that he couldn’t fix. When friends and neighbors needed quality welding repairs, they came to Jim to fix what was broken.
Jim is survived by the love of his life, Linda; daughter Jessica and son-in-law Jeff Kuhns and grandsons Justin and Jordan Kuhns of Rock Port, MO; sister Kris Hall of Raymond; brother- in-law Larry Bird and wife Jessie of Kansas City; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends he made along his life’s journey.
His parents, parents-in-law Dale and Frieda Bird, son Matthew, and brother Allan preceded him in death.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests sharing a good memory, helping out a neighbor, or just giving good advice no one will take – because that’s what he would have done.
A graveside memorial service was held Saturday, June 27, 2026, in Nemaha Cemetery at Nemaha, officiated by Rev. Jackie Gfeller. Urn bearers were grandsons Justin and Jordan Kuhns. Nephews Kody Hall and Rian Hall served as honorary bearers. Graveside military honors were provided by American Legion Post #222 of Shubert and U.S. Navy Honors Detail.
Services were entrusted to Hemmingsen Funeral Home of Auburn.
