CLARON G. HOLSCHER

1936 - 2026

Claron G. Holscher was born to Gilbert and Clara (Dieckgrafe) Holscher on October 20, 1936 on the family farm near Cook, Nebraska. He was baptized and confirmed at the Osage U.C.C. He graduated from Cook High School in 1954.

Claron was united in marriage to Greta Evers on June 3, 1956 at the Grace Lutheran Church in Cook. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this week.

He and Greta made their home near Cook where he farmed and raised cattle and livestock. In his early years, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and trapping. Claron enjoyed woodworking and gardening after retiring from farming. He attended as many of his grandchildren’s sporting events, and piano and dance recitals as he could. Claron was a devoted husband and father.

He was a life-long member of the Osage United Church of Christ, Cook. Claron served on the church board and was a member of the Osage Brotherhood. He was also a member of BAN, (Bluebirds Across Nebraska).

When his health declined, Claron moved to the Good Samaritan Center in Syracuse. He passed away there on June 4, 2026 at the age of 89 years.

Left to mourn his passing are his loving wife Greta, children Vicky Cowan (Sam) of Beatrice, Tammy Gruber (Jayme) of Lincoln, Rich of Wolfratshausen, Germany and Jim (Sheryl) of Scottsbluff, grandchildren, Tom Cowan (Shelby) of Seward, Elizabeth Georlett (Pierce) of Omaha, Alysha Washington of Lincoln, KC Gruber of Clay Center, Jenna Sontag (Matt) of McKinney, TX, Emily Havens (Dave) of Dallas, TX, Isaac Holscher (Hannah) of Pensacola, FL, Madeline Nielsen (Jimmy) of Springfield, Betsy Gaines (Turner) of Sioux Falls, SD and Zoe Holscher of Billings, MT, 12 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Norman Holscher and sisters Ivadell Vollertson and Marjorie Johns. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, June 7, 2026 at the St. Paul’s U.C.C. (Osage) rural Cook, Nebraska with Pastor Ken West officiating. Organist, Annette West, accompanied congregational hymns, “Just A Closer Walk With Thee” and “In The Garden.” A recording of “The Lord’s Prayer” by Robert Niedermeyer was played. Pallbearers were Robin Eggleston, Tom Cowan, KC Gruber, Isaac Holscher, Pierce Georlett, Matt Sontag, Dave Havens, Jimmy Nielsen and Turner Gaines. Honorary pallbearers were Alysha Washington, Emily Havens, Madeline Nielsen, Jenna Sontag, Betsy Gaines, Elizabeth Georlett and Zoe Holscher. Interment was in the St. Paul’s U.C.C. (Osage) Cemetery, rural Cook, Nebraska. Memorials may go to the family’s choice. Services were entrusted to Wherry Mortuary, Tecumseh, Nebraska.
