MARGARET “SUSAN” OLIVER
Margaret “Susan” Oliver, a cherished member of her community and devoted family woman, passed away peacefully at her home in Auburn on April 1, 2026. Born on December 30, 1946, in St. Louis, Missouri, Susan lived a life marked by simplicity, kindness, and unwavering faith.
Susan grew up attending Catholic school in St. Louis, where she completed her high school education before continuing on to college. A steadfast participant in her faith, she remained deeply involved in her church communities throughout her life. While residing in California, she was an active member of St. Vincent Catholic Church and dedicated herself to the Legion of Mary. Upon returning to Auburn, she continued her devoted participation as a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Known for her generous spirit, Susan found joy in reading and in helping others. She frequently offered rides to neighbors for their appointments and errands, reflecting her caring and neighborly nature. Those who knew her remember her as a simple person with a heart full of compassion.
Susan is survived by her loving daughter and son-inlaw, Lynn and Brandon Halama of Auburn; her son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Chris Silvey, also of Auburn. She took great pride in her grandchildren—Alicia (Mikael) Halvardsson, Zachary Halama, Kayla (Andrew) Schulte, Hanna (Tom) Danner, and Kendra (Devin) Beller—and her beloved great-grandchildren: Aiden Halvardsson, Jackson, Parker, Emmett Schulte, Nolan Danner, Brecken, and Blayden Beller. Susan’s family circle also includes her brothers, Michael Hempen of Oregon and Lawrence Hempen of California, as well as numerous other relatives and many dear friends who held her in high esteem.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence Hempen and Margaret (Hamilton) Picco; her husband, Frank Oliver; and her sisters, Mary Kay Godi and Judith Wiedner.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, April 9, 2026, 1:30 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Auburn, with Rosary being recited at 1:00 p.m. Burial of ashes will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery at Auburn. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with family greeting friends 5:00 to 7:00.
Memorials are suggested to family choice for later designation.
